Brisbane City Council launches free off-peak travel for buses and ferries

Brisbane City Transit

At the start of this month, the Brisbane City Council launched free off-peak travel for seniors on its buses and ferries.

If you don’t regularly use public transport and want to access free travel, there are a few things to keep in mind.

Firstly, you need to have a red seniors Go Card or a seniors card with the +Go function. If you’re unsure whether this applies to you or if you need credit, call Translink on 13 12 30 for more information.

For buses, free travel will apply between 8:30am and 3:30pm, and after 7pm, on weekdays. Travel is free all day on weekends and public holidays.

Brisbane Boats and Ferries

For CityCats and ferries, free travel will apply between 8:30am and 3:30pm, and after 7pm, on weekdays. Travel is free all day on public holidays that fall on a weekday. Regular fares apply on all weekends.

Train fares for seniors remain unchanged because they are run by the state government.
